Singapore's XSEED Education Secures Series B Funding

Singapore and Bengaluru based edutech startup XSEED secured an undisclosed amount of Series B funding in a round led by Belgium-based venture firm Verlinvest. With this investment Nicholas Cator, Verlinvest Executive Director, will join the company’s board of directors.


The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.  Report Said “it was significantly larger than its Series A of $10 million”.

The secured fund will be utilised to build a best tech-enabled learning platform for children and schools. The firm would also invest fund in research and product development.

Founded by Ashish Rajpal XSEED Education, is an innovative K-12 startup, which currently caters to at least one million students in over 3,000 schools and focused on enhancing school learning with high-quality curriculum design, teacher training and assessment capability.

The firm’s immediate goal is to touch 10,000 schools. Their 5 year vision is to reach out to 10 million children, with plans to take their work to various countries, while at the same time continuing to build up XSEED’s presence in India.

Last year, XSEED had acquired the online education and learning management firm Pleolabs.

New York-based fund Lighthouse Fund was the first investor in XSEED in 2010.

This is Verlinvest’s first investment in the education space. It is focused on sectors such as alco-beverage, FMCG and packaged food, among others.
